A few months prior to New Year's Eve, Angelo contacted us regarding his plans for an intimate elopement with his long time partner, Ron. The plan was to have a backyard ceremony at a relative's townhome in Bowmanville, under the twinkling Christmas lights strung up around the deck. When I arrived, there was a lot of hustle and bustle. Everyone was earnestly trying to get ready for the wedding. Checking one another's formal outfits, straightening ties, and making sure the planned live stream via laptop was all set to go!
My role in these situations is to be a fly on the wall, with a camera, to document the reality of an event. To capture it in it's true form as it unfolds. It's documentary wedding photography in its purest form. Everyone was sweet and considerate of one another, and I got a real sense of "team", with all involved wanting to do their best to make the night a success.
The officiant, Charity AKA The Modern Nun started the ceremony off with introductions and away we went! Even with the chilly temperature, no one seemed to care. The ceremony was short and sweet, with plenty of emotion, and was just perfect. Afterwards, just a few formal family photos were requested. Then, to finish things off just the right way, we walked out front on to the quiet subdivision street for some romantic couple's photos.
Ron and Angelo were kind enough to invite me to hang out with everyone, and I gladly would have, but unfortunately I had to decline. Tracey and I had friends waiting at our place, for our own New Year's plans. I'm sure it would've been a blast, though. I really enjoyed the brief time that I did get to spend with everyone, that evening.
